Chapter 7 Caulking and clean up

The R-Value of A.C.C. Manufacturing products are tested and published. To achieve this important value it is important to caulk around the shutter box and tracks. Air infiltration behind the shutter must be kept to a minimum for maximum sound and thermal insulation.

1. Place a bead of caulk on both sides of the guide rail and/or build out.

Note To save time and caulking material, sue a backer rod to fill the large gaps between the track and or the build out prior to caulking.

2. Caulk around the perimeter of the shutter box.

3. Plug the outer holes with the plugs provided, or install the outer snap track piece. Waterproof the system by caulking the joints between the guide rails and the building.

Note :Do not allow the caulking to come in contact with the operator system.

Clean up. I

t is very important to leave the job site cleaner than it was upon your arrival. Take special care to remove any dust or filling that have been created installing the shutter system. Carefully remove any drop cloths to be shaken out back at the shop.
