ROLLERGUARD ROLLING SHUTTERS
ARCHITECTURAL SPECIFICATIONS

      PART 1 - GENERAL

             
1.01 SUMMARY

1.02 SUBMITTALS

     
  A. Procedure: Comply with requirements the Submittal Procedures.
  2.

Product Data: Submit manufacturer's complete product data for all specified components, including specifications, finish information and installation instructions.

  3. Shop Drawings: Submit shop drawings showing layout, sizes and types, product materials, components and accessories, fabrication data, operation and wiring diagrams for motor driven operators, finishes, rough-in dimensions, anchorage and installation requirements and details.
  4. Samples: Manufacture's standard selection of colors for selection by the architect.
  5. Quality Assurance Submittals:
    1.

Test Reports: Certified test reports showing compliance with specified requirements.

    2. Certificates: Manufacture's certification stating that design criteria meets specified requirements.
    3. Operating and Maintenance Instructions: Submit detailed maintenance requirements and operating instructions.
    4. Warranty: Submit specified warranty documents.
             
1.03 QUALITY ASSURANCE
  A. Installer Qualifications:
    1. Use only manufacturer's factory trained installers or qualified licensed installer approved by the shutter manufacturer.
  2.

Regulatory Requirements:

    1. Comply with all local and governing code requirements.
    2. Unless required otherwise, fabricate to withstand wind loads that carry same rating as component cladding of the walls.
  3. Pre-installation Conference: Conduct a pre-installation meetingto verify project installation and coordination requirements, field conditions, and manufacture's instructions.
             
1.04 DELIVERY, STORAGE AND HANDLING
  A.

Procedure: Comply with Product Delivery Requirements.

Deliver components in manufacturer's original, unopened, undamaged containers with identification labels intact. Store components protected from harmful weather conditions and damage from other construction activities.

             
1.05 PROJECT CONDITIONS
  A. Field Measurements: Verify actual measurements of openings by field measurements fabrication. Show recorded measurements on shop drawings.
         
1.06 WARRANTY

Manufacturer's Warranty: Submit, for Owner's Acceptance, manufacturer's standard warranty document executed by an authorized company official.

2.02 MATERIALS
  A. Shutter Components
    1. Slat Types
      a. Aluminum Foam-Filled Slats: Aluminum, 3004 H16 alloy, with a polyurethane foam insulation core. [RC40], 40mm profile; [RC55], 55mm profile; [SAR155a], 55mm profile, high-density foam. Color [White] [Ivory] [Bronze], factory applied finish.
      b. Extruded Aluminum Slats: Aluminum, 6063-T5 Aluminum Alloy. [RE1000], [RE1500], [RE3000], all self-locking slats. Color [White] [Ivory] [Bronze] [Clear Anodized], chromium plated primer coat, powder coat finish.
    2. Operation: [Manual] or [Motorized]
      a. Manual operator type: [Pull Strap] [Gear, Universal and removable handle]
      b. Motorized: 110v/60hz, UL approved motors and controllers. Provide manual override capability allowing manual operation in case of power outage.
(Specifier Note: Manual override capability is an optional feature, delete if not required. Motors will be selected to the size and dimensions of the shutter to be operated.)
    3. End Caps: Die-Cast Aluminum [4] or [5] sided.
    4. Shutter Hood: Roll formed aluminum; .036 inch thickness, 3105-H14 alloy. [4] or [5] sided.
    5. Tracks: Extruded Aluminum 6063-T5 alloy. Manufacture will match the appropriate Rail Guides with the slat type to ensure proper slat retention.
    6. Storm Bars: Extruded Aluminum 6063-T5 alloy. [2-inch] [3-inch] [4-inch].
    7. Spring/Security Straps: Stainless Steel straps to join the slats to the reel.
    8. Reel: 6063-T6 Aluminum Alloy.
             
2.03 SHOP FINISH
  A. Hood and Track: (Electrostatically Applied - ESP- paint Finish.
  2. Tracks: (Electrostatically Applied - ESP- paint Finish.
  3. Color: As selected by the architect.
             
3.01 EXAMINATION
  A. Verify condition of substrates to determine if acceptable for shutter installation in accordance with manufacturer's instructions. Correct all unsatisfactory conditions prior to commencing shutter installations.
             
3.02 INSTALLATION
  A. Install track and all shutter components to comply with project shop drawings and manufacturer's written installation requirements.
    1. Where metal surfaces are in contact with masonry, concrete or dissimilar metals, protect per the manufacturer's installation procedures with recommended isolation coatings or tape.
  2. After installation, lubricate, test and adjust shutters to ensure proper operation.
             
3.03 CLEANING
  A. Clean installed components in accordance with manufacturer's instructions prior to Owner's acceptance. Properly remove for the site all debris remaining from the installation.
             
3.04 PROTECTION
  A. Comply with manufacturer's recommendation and protect completed shutter installations from damage during remaining construction so as not to void the warranty.
